Ishtar

Love & War

Queen of Heaven, goddess of love, fertility, and sacred warfare.

The Mythology

Ishtar descended to the underworld to challenge her sister Ereshkigal, dying and rising again. This oldest recorded descent myth prefigures later dying-and-rising gods. She represents the paradox of the feminine divine—both the tender lover and the fierce warrior queen.
